Continuing this week’s theme of clean eating food for energy and fullness, I made up this lunch plate today with a combo of quinoa, brown rice, some chopped veggies, a few sesame seed rice crackers and a big dollop of hummus. Light but satisfying, this is the sort of food that puts enough fuel in my tank to sustain me through the afternoon and into the evening.
Grains like quinoa are really great to eat for a variety of nutrition reasons such as:
- Having fiber which is a form of carbohydrate that can help lower your risk for heart disease.
- Being a low-fat food, it’s also a great protein source. Quinoa is a complete protein — meaning it contains all of the essential amino acids your body needs, making it an excellent choice for vegetarians.
