Avocado (3.0): Creating an Avocado Flower

So I know I’m probably going on a bit with my regular avocado posts but given the great feedback I’ve had on the ones I’ve already published, I thought I’d strike out yet again 😉 .

Izzie showed me a time-lapse video yesterday of a clever chef making one of those beautiful avocado flowers you see often on Instagram feeds.  They are so pretty and delicate so I thought I’d give it a go for breakfast.

It looked easy enough.  You thinly slice 1/2 and avocado (along the length of a half avocado- very thin slices) and then fashion these slices carefully into a flower shape.  Yes yes it looked easy  – my end result wasn’t quite as professional but it certainly was delicious!

As before I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful fruit.  Here are some of its nutritious advantages:

  • Plenty of potassium
  • Lots of heart-healthy mono-unsaturated fatty acids
  • Lots of fiber
  • Eating avocados can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels

It’s also very versatile for different meals – for breakfast (mashed on toast and with eggs), blended into smoothies, in salads for lunches and dinners and mixed into guacamole.

I’m looking forward to getting some more practice on the flower art 💚 😀
