So I know I’m probably going on a bit with my regular avocado posts but given the great feedback I’ve had on the ones I’ve already published, I thought I’d strike out yet again 😉 .
Izzie showed me a time-lapse video yesterday of a clever chef making one of those beautiful avocado flowers you see often on Instagram feeds. They are so pretty and delicate so I thought I’d give it a go for breakfast.
It looked easy enough. You thinly slice 1/2 and avocado (along the length of a half avocado- very thin slices) and then fashion these slices carefully into a flower shape. Yes yes it looked easy – my end result wasn’t quite as professional but it certainly was delicious!
As before I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful fruit. Here are some of its nutritious advantages:
- Plenty of potassium
- Lots of heart-healthy mono-unsaturated fatty acids
- Lots of fiber
- Eating avocados can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels
It’s also very versatile for different meals – for breakfast (mashed on toast and with eggs), blended into smoothies, in salads for lunches and dinners and mixed into guacamole.
