I really like the idea that detoxing the body can complement the detoxification of your life to a fresher, lighter and simpler one.
When you decide to go through a physical detox, there are certain considerations to bear in mind. I previously assumed that a “detox” meant washing out the body with tough cleansing drinks for a temporary period of time but since qualifying as a nutritionist I’ve learnt that it’s more about ridding the body of nasty toxic substances in a more sustained & realistic way.
This can be achieved by altering your diet to a clean one, ie. eating more of the best and healthiest options in each of the food groups and eating less of the not-so-healthy ones. That means embracing whole foods like vegetables, fruits and whole grains, plus healthy proteins and fats.
